Sk8er Boi|I'm a Believer Mashup -The Accidentals (Avril Lavigne|Smash Mouth cover) #womancrushwednesday #playyourparagon

This #PlayYourParagon comes from a deep dive into our elementary school roots.
Every year our parents would host a talent show at Silver Lake Elementary and we would all cover songs that we loved.
We were reminiscing this week as we were all together talking about those days. I remember covering Big Yellow Taxi(4th grade), Walking on Sunshine (1st grade), and I Can See Clearly(2nd grade) Such a great snapshot in time.

We decided to bring back some of the covers we did as 2nd and 3rd graders.

In the third grade I sang Sk9ter Boi by Avril Lavigne. Katie was in the second grade that year, she covered a Smash Mouth rendition of I'm a Believer, a song that Neil Diamond wrote for the Monkeys - but I am pretty sure we were all into the Shrek version at that time... haha.

We decided to record a little medley of these tunes as a tribute to our early years.

I hope you all have an amazing day and enjoy our cover tunes!

~If you see it, you believe it, you do it. This year we want to be the "see it", that encourages the "believe it" that supports the "do it".
When we were in high school a female string duo called Moxie Strings came into our classroom and rocked out on their electric cello and violin and Katie and I decided "we can do that?!" That is how we became the Accidentals, which in turn altered every part of our lives. It gave a couple of shy kids the confidence to create and relate. We were inspired to play guitar by St. Vincent and Kaki King, violin by Scarlett Rivera, and write songs by SEVERAL female artists. ~
