READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH: So I'm not sure how well you can see behind me here, but our grass is starting to turn green. It is definitely starting to get a lot warmer and the grass is starting to grow, and we have an English phrase, the grass is always greener. It's a short version of a longer phrase, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, and it refers to the fact that, when you look over the fence at your neighbor's grass, sometimes their grass looks better than yours. That's the literal meaning, but what it really is talking about is when you look at someone else's life, and you are jealous of what they have. So maybe you have a neighbor or a relative or someone you know who has a nicer car, they have a nicer house, and it seems like everything they have is better than yours, we in English would say, you know, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, which means it might not be as good as you think it is, it just looks better than your life. We also have another phrase in English. You can be green with envy, so again, if you are looking at someone else's life, if you are looking at what they have, if you are looking at their car and their house, you might be jealous of what they have and you might be green with envy. So again, when you say in English that the grass is always greener, you're referring to the fact that when you look at someone else's life, it might seem better than yours, but it might not be. But when you look at it, it might seem better, and you might become green with envy when you look at all of the things that someone else has. Anyways, Bob the Canadian here, sitting here with my grass that is just starting to turn green. I'm pretty excited about that.
