Tesla just announced their Q1 2020 Earnings. It turned out to be great in spite of Elon Musk's tweet storm this morning, and they were profitable.

Elon talked quite a bit of Tesla's Full Self Driving, and how the stop sign recognition and confirmation helps feed their neural network. Elon compared this process of gathering data to how Google works, and emphasized how far ahead they are.

Soon Elon expects that Tesla's will be able to go through these intersections on its own, and make turns. On top of this he predicted that by the end of 2020, your Tesla will be able to drive you to work and back all on its own.

Tesla mentioned full self driving subscriptions, and said that they plan to bring it by the end of the year. They still feel that the best option is to buy it at purchase and roll it in with your financing, but they will be adding a subscription option towards the end of the year for customers who didn't buy it at time of purchase (like me), and for those leasing.

There was very interesting news about the Tesla Model S. According to Elon, the Model S already has a 400 mile range, and has had it for the last few months, but the EPA tested the range wrong. Elon said they were testing over night with a door ajar, and the car was constantly warning them that the door was open which ultimately resulted in a range loss of about 2% bringing it to the 391 mile range it has now. According to Elon, once EPA testing opens back up, they will re-submit the Model S, and achieve the 400 mile range, which it already has.

Regarding Tesla Battery Day, Elon talked about how excited he was for it, and mentioned it will be the most important day in Tesla's history. He said that it will take place either in California or Texas...which likely leaked the location of their next Gigafactory.

There have been rumors that Tesla's next Gigafactory would be in Texas, and when asked Elon said they would announce the location of their next Gigafactory, located in the US, within the next 1-3 months. It seems very likely that it will be Texas.

Tesla's stock has been up in after hours trading related to their profit, and overall it was a positive quarter for Tesla. I'm interested to see how the Tesla revenue, or Tesla profit is affected in Q2 of 2020.

Some more highlights were that the Tesla Model Y is already profitable, they launched the Model Y early, the Model S reached that 391 mile range with nothing but software, and their solar installs are up.

Tesla produced 102,672 cars and delivered 88,496 cars. As usual, the majority of these are the Model 3 and Model Y.
