The incident was filmed outside a branch of the supermarket in Greenhithe, Kent at around 6.10pm on Tuesday.
Video shows the shopper talking to a member of store security before raising his hand towards the man's face while holding something.
The guard grabs at the object and the two begin to tussle.
The shopper is then tackled to the ground as other members of staff rush to help.
He is then restrained on the floor as he continues to scream and shout at staff.
Witnesses said he also began coughing and spitting at staff while claiming to be infected with coronavirus.A 32-year-old man of no fixed address was reportedly arrested on suspicion of two assaults and one racially aggravated public order offence. sites.google.com/site/envelopestuffingjobs
Speaking to KentOnline, one witness said:"[The shopper] kept on and swearing and trying to punch and kick both staff, landed a few punches and kicks until he broke his sunglasses and threw them on the floor and freaked out."
